Climate change

Started by: PeterP (11336)

Lets hope the weather changes for the better. We have had nothing but bad weather since the middle of December Rain Wind and Flooding. There is going to be Snow some time which will grind every where to a stop Roll on calmer weather would be happy with light winds and no rain but the water companies will then say there is a water shortage has the rain as fell in the wrong place

I don't think that folk should shift snow, unless it is for a very specific reason, because snow in it's raw state offers good grip, and it has insulating properties, that is why yoo dig a snow hole for survival, and Eskimos make Igloo's out of it.

But if you just clear your path and the pavement in front of your property, then all you do is to leave a sheet of ice there, which folk can slip on, and then you might get sued

What yoo say is troo at the time of falling Tommy 2 snowflakes, Later on as it freezes, it becomes hard to move and the footprints and tyre trails are hard and uneven so we then get a ' bad under foot situation' and yoo need a jack hammer too mooove it,
So strike early and shooo it then salt it and yoo are in control,

I really hope it doesn't snow over the next few days, or weeks. Scared of slipping and falling and I've only been out of hospital a few days, so I've no wish to go back there.

No I don't wish to go back Mollie,I've spent all year going for tests since I was in there early this year,it seems never ending,so to slip and break something would be th icing on the cake.

Would it be better or worse if the earth was getting colder rather than warmer ?

Before climate science became politicized, warm periods were referred to by scientists as “climate optima” because, for almost all species on Earth, warmer is better than colder. The most dramatic advances in civilization took place during the last four warm periods—including our own. The advancement of science, technology and the arts have been directly linked to warmer weather. The warming, which made possible an abundance of food, freed the population from its preoccupation with daily survival to do other things. It led to cultural development, something impossible during the cold periods. These prosperous warm periods were followed by declining temperatures with names like the Greek Dark Ages, the Dark Ages and the Little Ice Age. These were times of great despair as the Earth plunged into global cooling that featured crop failure, famine and mass depopulation. Make no mistake; bad things happen during cold periods, very bad things.
